Spitfire Spot
As an active region rotated into view, SDO caught numerous, small bursts of plasma as the region sputtered and spewed during about a two-day period (Aug. 29-31, 2010). The bursts are a direct result of the intense magnetic interactions in this active region. The images were taken in a wavelength of extreme ultraviolet light that shows particles at about 60,000 degrees K.
